Venice in the Gables Public Arts Initiative - City of Coral Gables Collaboration

The City of Coral Gables is celebrating the completion of the Downtown Miracle Mile and Giralda Streetscape Project with an exciting art project, Venice in the Gables

Eight foot tall replicas of Venetian mooring posts (paline), resembling the picturesque canal posts for the gondolas of Venice, will grace the streets of downtown Coral Gables for a temporary exhibit inviting visitors and residents to interact with the new streetscape. Venetian mooring posts were incorporated into the early designs of the City of Coral Gables, most notably as canal markers to delineate waterfront property and as part of the Venetian Pool design.

South Florida Artist Holly A Jones was selected to design and paint a sponsored post. At the end of the exhibit, the post will be available for purchase at a charitable auction to further the arts in Coral Gables and support local charities. Holly's post, "Moon over Miami" is inspired by her experience living in the city beautiful, Coral Gables. Lush botanical landscapes along with a full bright moon, make for the perfect rendering of living in paradise.

Visit these beautiful posts, celebrate completion of the downtown Miracle Mile and Giralda streetscape in Coral Gables and "check-in" on social media with #VeniceInTheGables, #CoralGablesArts and #MyArtTravels.
